Introduction

The Artificial Intelligence Research Group (AIRG) was formed during 1993, to promote the research into and development of intelligent systems. Areas of interest include neural networks, fuzzy systems, automated knowledge acquisition, expert systems and genetic algorithms.

In particular, members of the group are involved in the following research activities:

  • The application of neural networks and genetic algorithms to weather forecasting
  • Soil classification using AI
  • Incorporating fuzziness into formal methods.
  • Mapping salinity using neural networks and machine learning techniques
  • The use of neural networks in the prediction of smog events
  • Automated knowledge acquisition for fuzzy systems
  • The use of AI techniques to assist in statistical analysis
  • The use of neural network technology in financial modelling

Project Partners: Department of Sustainability & Environment Victoria, and the Bureau of Meteorology.
