Publishing Lecture Notes on the Web
Teachers commonly provide course material on the World Wide Web in
conjunction with presentation of the same material in a conventional
classroom or lecture situation.
A problem occurs when presentation graphics software such as
Powerpoint is used to prepare lecture material. Two options are
available:
- Conversion
- The proprietory presentation graphics file is
transformed into HTML, usually via an intermediate format
such as RTF.
- Use external viewers
- The presenter simply makes the lecture material
available in the original presentation graphics file format,
but indexed from a Web page. The student must install a
suitable "viewer", and configure his
or her browser to use it.
