Conversion to HTML
Some advantages of the conversion approach include:
- The resulting HTML document has the "look and feel"
of the Web.
- With a small of amount of extra effort, the author can
add hypertext markup to the resulting HTML, introducing
cross references, external links, and multimedia material.
Some problems with this approach include:
- In our experience, most conversion tools tend to produce
results of varying, but generally poor, quality. Managing the
conversion can also be very time consuming.
- The presenter now has two copies of the presentation
in two formats. Worse, the "derived" (HTML) copy may have
had changes, such as the hyperlinks mentioned above. Attempting
to always keep two versions of the same document
consistent can become a real headache!
