About this Subject

Major and Minor Projects provide the opportunity for students to use the tools and techniques covered in the course to date in the development of a system. The purpose of these subjects is learn by systematically work through the appropriate steps of project development.

Students will typically work on one project. Each student is assigned to a supervisor whose main task is to advise and assess students. A supervisor will normally have six to eight students in his/her group. Each student is also assigned a second assessor to provide a second opinion on their work. A project is usually developed for a client by a team of two or three students. A client is an organisation or person for whom the project is being developed.

From 2009 Project subjects for IT students are coordinated with all project subjects in the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering. Sabine Wilkins is your Project Coordinator. Joel Sing & Mary Martin are your IT supervisors and allocate specific projects to IT project students.

All enrolled project students have access to 2009 subject information on the University's Subject Site (LMS/WebCT) for SCI3PRJ.

Assessment for Minor and Major projects is also the same as in previous years and is described in the Subject Outline on the LMS site.

These pages may be used as archival reference material for IT projects. There are lots of useful examples and tips here!
